Bannerbear and Templated both sell template-based image generation: you design a template in a visual editor, then fill it with data through an API or a no-code tool. They aim at different buyers. Bannerbear is a broad automation platform for marketing teams — workflows, forms, 50+ integrations, video. Templated is built for software companies that want to embed a white-label editor in their own product. On price, Templated starts lower; Bannerbear is cheaper around 10,000 images a month.
We make Shareglint, a third tool in this market, so we are not neutral. Every number below comes from the vendors' own pricing pages, read on 2026-11-04, each section starts with what the product does well, and we say where we fit at the end.

Bannerbear: the automation platform
What it does well. Bannerbear has the broadest toolbox of the two: a mature drag-and-drop editor, ready-made templates, more than 50 integrations (Zapier, Make, Airtable and others), its own forms and workflows for people who never touch an API, video and animation, and an official MCP server for AI assistants. Its Scale plan adds Instant URLs — images generated from a URL, handy for og:image — plus team members and your own S3 bucket. For a marketing team that wants to produce social graphics and short videos from a spreadsheet without a developer, it is a strong choice, and the per-image price drops sharply on Scale ($14.90 per 1,000).
Where it is weaker. The entry plan is the most expensive way to buy 1,000 images in this comparison, there is no free monthly allowance after the trial, and when credits run out requests are refused rather than billed as overage. Instant URLs and teams are not on the entry plan.
Pick Bannerbear if your team works in no-code tools, you want video and images from one vendor, or you will generate around 10,000 images a month. Our one-to-one page: Bannerbear alternative.
Templated: the embeddable editor
What it does well. Templated covers a case most tools in this market do not: an editor you put inside your own product, white-labelled with your branding, so your customers design their own images. Seats are included on every plan (2, 5 or 20), the first paid plan already has Zapier, Make, n8n and MCP, PDFs cost one credit per page, and yearly billing takes a fifth to a quarter off. At $39 (or $29 yearly) for 1,000 credits it is cheaper to start than Bannerbear.
Where it is weaker. The white-label editor — the main reason to choose it — starts on the $99 Scale plan, and between 5,000 and 25,000 images a month there is no plan in between: 10,000 images means the $229 Enterprise plan. What happens when credits run out is not stated on the pricing page.
Pick Templated if you are building a SaaS product whose users should design images themselves, under your brand, or you want a lower entry price with integrations included. Our one-to-one page: Templated alternative.
The questions that decide it
- Who designs the templates? Your marketing team, in a visual tool → Bannerbear. Your customers, inside your app → Templated. Your developers, in code → neither is necessary.
- How many images a month? Under a few thousand, Templated is cheaper. Around 10,000, Bannerbear's Scale plan is. Compute your own volume from both pricing pages.
- Do you need video? Both offer it, priced differently: Bannerbear by seconds of output, Templated by a formula of resolution, frame rate and length.
- Do images need to live in
og:imagewithout server code? Bannerbear's Instant URLs do that from Scale; check Templated's documentation for an equivalent before relying on it.
A third option for developers
If the person building templates writes HTML and CSS, an HTML-template API skips the visual editor entirely. Shareglint renders your HTML and CSS (or one of 153 built-in templates, or a simple visual editor) in real Chrome: Starter is $9 a month for 2,000 images (about $4.50 per 1,000), Pro $29 for 10,000, and the Free plan gives 100 images every month with a watermark. Signed URLs for og:image work on every plan, and every template renders in 6 sizes from one request.
What we do not do, compared with both: no embeddable white-label editor, no video beyond short GIF and MP4 clips (up to 5 seconds), no forms or workflow builder, and our no-code integrations are HTTP recipes (integrations) rather than native apps. The Bannerbear vs Placid comparison and the best OG image API table cover more vendors.
